‘Bones’ season 11: David Boreanaz returns to work after health issues
For those wondering why the producers of “Bones” crafted a story for the season 11 premiere revolving around the disappearance of Booth, we now have a pretty good idea: They did it in order to accommodate star David Boreanaz and a recent health scare the actor suffered.
This news was actually confirmed by the actor himself in a statement to TVLine, and in the report it was revealed that troubles with an antibiotic led to him being out of commission for some time:
“Nothing matters to me more than Bones, so I was thrilled when the producers came up with a way for me to take a few extra weeks to recover from a personal health issue without delaying production … I’m happy to say that I’m now feeling great and will be back to work tomorrow, and that our 11th season premiere will broadcast on schedule – with me in it.”
What this may ultimately mean is just that you could see more of Brennan or some other characters on “Bones” before we get around to seeing Booth, and we’re fine with that. The show has a large cast for a reason, and a significant part of that is making sure that there is a great story crafted to accommodate them all.
The new season of “Bones” will premiere on October 1, and one of the early storytelling challenges for the show is merely going to be figuring out a way to ensure that Booth and Brennan can get back to the Jeffersonian. Oh, and there is also that wacky “Sleepy Hollow” crossover that is coming up.
