‘Fear the Walking Dead’ season 1, episode 2 spoilers: Kim Dickens on Madison’s role
There is probably not any true star of AMC’s “Fear the Walking Dead,” but what we are going to see moving into the second episode of the season is an opportunity to have more and more people try to rise to the occasion once they realize that there is something serious causing the world to fall apart.
One of these potential leaders is Madison, a guidance counselor who is going to be looking for some guidance herself after she realizes that many of the students at school, and even her son, were not so crazy after all. She has to figure out quickly how to survive, and as Kim Dickens tells TV Guide, this is something that she is prepared to do:
“You see this strong woman, who is also very feminine and very warm and very vulnerable, adapting to the circumstances, and you see sort of a warrior come out of her … You see her primal instincts come out to protect her family.”
One of the best things about this character for the time being is that there is really not any one true comparison between Madison and another character from the “Walking Dead” universe. Maybe she’s got something in common with Michonne in terms of her learning to discover her inner power, but she also has elements of Rick Grimes and Glenn.
The next few episodes are going to be what really makes or breaks this show. They have delivered with an excellent pilot episode, and that is a great step as we start to move forward and see what lies ahead the rest of the season.
