‘The Amazing Race Canada 3’ top 6 rankings: Gino & Jesse further their lead
There are only six teams remaining on “The Amazing Race Canada,” and this in turn means that we’re going to have hopefully a fantastic handful of episodes left. Based on the way that things are organized right now, it looks like there could be one more non-elimination leg on the way this season, but unless there is a final four in the finale, the rest will see a team go home.
The big concern that any viewer of the show has to have right now is this: A complete demolishing of most of the teams by a pair of brothers. Gino & Jesse have been so fantastic the past few legs that this is a serious concern; even if you are rooting for them to win, what fun is it to see them just destroy the rest of the teams? We’ve seen them struggle before, but it feels now like it’s been a while.
6. Simi & Ope – Very sweet, likable people, and we feel like we could listen to Ope’s stories for days. Unfortunately, we haven’t seen any sign that they are qualified racers to win this season. Ope cannot swim, they’re not the fastest team, and their strategy of refusing help at all times is admirable, but it also hampers them in situations.
5. Brian & Cynthia – It probably doesn’t make too much sense to rank a team who has placed higher than 5th the majority of the legs in this spot. Why do it? Ultimately, the answer is that we don’t see the upside here. There’s a good chance that they come in second place this season, but we just don’t see them winning. We feel like all of the remaining teams have a chance.
4. Brent & Sean – Granted, here it is a small chance. These guys do have some skills in various tasks, but if it was not for the Express Pass this past leg, they probably wouldn’t have been anywhere near first. They just are not in the physical shape to win in any footrace.
3. Dujean & Leilani – If they can get along, they’re solid contenders to pull of an upset. They are smart, athletic, and very coordinated. They also did really well this past leg even with a time penalty. Their biggest problem is that they could have communication breakdowns, and work each other’s nerve in a way that none of the other top 4 teams will.
2. Nick & Matt – The wrestlers are certainly fun, but aside from that, they’re mostly good racers. We’re still confident in them despite what was probably their worst leg this past week. The biggest thing going for them is simply that they’ve got such a good friendship that nothing seems to rattle them too much. Therefore, we’re reasonably confident in their ability to overcome adversity.
1. Gino & Jesse – They are probably even more out in front this week than when we last did the rankings. They’re not only faster than any other team, but they’ve also shown skill in construction tasks and some game savvy. A team better hope that there is either a U-Turn ahead, or they get a bad cab driver somewhere. That may be the only way to take them down.
