‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ season 7 spoilers: Callen goes rogue in premiere

For those of you who are really interested in seeing something completely different when it comes to “NCIS: Los Angeles,” early indications suggest that we are definitely going to have that. We don’t just have a generic cliffhanger where the entire team is together, and within an episode or two we will have long forgotten about how the season began.

This time around, there are even physical changes. As the photo below via TVLine proves, Callen (Chris O’Donnell) is going to be sporting a very different, bearded look when the show starts back in September. Why is that? It’s not just some fashion trend; instead, this is him separating himself from Hetty and Sam and trying to get some answers. It’s not entirely clear as to whether or not this ties into what Hetty told him about his father in the season 6 finale; for now, what we can offer you is this tease from executive producer Shane Brennan:

“We discover that Callen has been doing his own investigation into something,” showrunner Shane Brennan tells TVLine. And as a result of his rogue op, “He finds himself in a very difficult situation with Hetty and Sam (LL Cool J), because he’s not telling them what he’s got himself caught up in.”
