‘Mythbusters’ stars Adam Savage, Jamie Hyneman to executive-produce potential CBS drama

CBS -

While the “Mythbusters” already have one hit show on Discovery, why settle for just that? Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman are now getting into scripted television, specifically in the form of a new TV series that is inspired in part by their particular set of skills. (Nope, that’s not a Liam Neeson quote this time around.)

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Adam and Jamie are going to executive-produce a potential series over at CBS, where it has a script commitment. Want to know more of the story here? Well, it revolves around a pair of Hollywood special-effects gurus who end up getting recruited by the CIA to solve a variety of different operations in unconventional ways. This ultimately sounds almost identical to what you would think a “Mythbusters” scripted show on CBS would be like, and yet we’re still interesting to see how it comes together.

Sisters Lilla and Nora Zuckerman (who have worked on “Suits” and “Haven”) are going to be the writers/producers on the show, and we’re curious to see if anything comes out of this.

When you think about it, this show really would make a lot of sense as a part of the CBS programming catalogue. It reminds us already of “Scorpion,” which focuses on a group of super-smart people with the ability to help solve crimes. The network does well with series that sort of combine humor with adventure … and throw a little bit of drama in there at times.

This show will have to work still to get through the script phase, and we’ll have more news as it comes out.
