‘Power’ season 3: Premiere date speculation, more for Omari Hardwick drama

As many of you who watch “Power” probably know by this particular point in time, tonight marks the official season 2 finale on Starz. In some ways, this is something that we’re still even trying to digest! This show has been a ratings revelation for the network this season, and it also feels like it has had a massive surge in popularity to go along with that.

We’re writing this article about a potential third season before watching the finale, so keep that in mind in regards to spoilers. We’re going to try and keep this vague since we don’t want to proclaim someone as alive and well if they are killed off in the finale. (We’re going to go out on a limb, though, and say that Ghost is alive; it’s hard to really envision the show without Omari Hardwick.)

In terms of premiere dates for the third season, this is an interesting dilemma that Starz finds themselves facing. For the past couple of years the show has started in early June, but what may complicate that is that “Outlander” is going to more than likely air all 13 of its season 2 episodes this spring. This means a couple of different things: Either “Power” will air at 10:00 p.m. and these two shows will be a part of a double-header for a few weeks next summer, “Power” will be pushed back until “Outlander” is over, or maybe the network will experiment with a different night … but we have a hard time imagining either show being moved, since they are both currently killing it in their present spots.

Ultimately, though, we feel pretty confident in saying that “Power” as a series is probably not going anywhere anytime soon. If the ratings surge for season 3 like they did for season 2, this could be the most-successful show in the history of the network.
