‘The Bastard Executioner’ video: Lee Jones, Katey Sagal, Kurt Sutter talk new series

TBXFor those of you looking for something substantial when it comes to FX’s upcoming “The Bastard Executioner,” we feel like we now have something for you that is right up your alley: A new behind-the-scenes featurette that gives you perhaps more news and more details about the plot than almost anything else that has been released by the network to date.

In this preview, one thing you especially get of significance is a true sense of scope. This world created by Kurt Sutter is vast, brutal, and alternates between being isolated and populated, depending on where you are. Some of the scenes before the castle are especially breathtaking, just from the vantage point of giving you a sense as to what this feudal society is really like. These are settings that are especially romanticized often in other works.

To go along with this, the preview does also feature some interviews from the likes of Sutter and stars Lee Jones and Katey Sagal, who give you a better sense as to what this story is going to be. Jones plays our lead Wilkin Brattle, a man who, after trying to make ends meet as a farmer, soon finds himself by circumstance thrown into a position as a journeyman executioner. It is violent, difficult work, but we imagine one that will be at the center of most of the series’ drama.

The new series is going to premiere on Tuesday, September 15, and while there are still so many things that are a secret about this show, we must admit that for the most part, we are more than fine with that. The sense of mystery and ambiguity over what is next is one of the many reasons we find this series so exciting.
