‘Arrow’ season 4 spoilers: Constantine will be the same as one from NBC show

Arrow -

Just in case you were wondering whether or not we should consider “Constantine” completely canon to the “Arrow” universe, we now have an answer for you: It is! While you likely assumed that this is the same exact John that was in the NBC show, it is nice to get some confirmation on the matter.

While at TCA yesterday where the news was unveiled, executive producer Wendy Mericle told IGN just how satisfied they are to be getting the same character that so many fans loved in the first place:

“He is coming in fully as who he was on the show. We’re getting wardrobe. We’re very excited to have him. He’s a tremendous actor. It’s so cool to have that cross-pollination. We are very lucky and DC was very generous letting us have him.”

Of course, the real question is whether or not the events of the show are going to be addressed at all, that way fans of “Constantine” can at least feel like there is a little bit of closure. It’s going to be hard to given the limited amount of time; at most, we expect something like a throwaway line that fans of the show will catch, and then everyone else will just move on from. There’s not going to be much here.

Mericle also confirmed in this interview that this appearance by John is almost surely going to be of the one-off variety, mostly because he fits in well for this particular situation in resurrecting Sara Lance. Given that Matt Ryan is a busy guy and there are so many comic-book rights to think about here, we’re not sure how much more beyond that we’ll see him on this show.
