‘Mistresses’ season 3, episode 10 preview: Joss’ desperate state

MistressesWhen Thursday night’s new episode of “Mistresses” airs, it will be clear from almost the onset that Joss is not going to be in a good spot. As a matter of fact, it is hard to really imagine her in a worse spot. She’s been imprisoned for a crime that she did not commit, and it is not looking as though she is going to have a whole lot of help in finding a way to get out.

One of the biggest things working against her right now is strictly the fact that Calista Raines, who is one of the people who could help her, is more interested in protecting herself. Joss is on an island, and her only sort of communication seems to be with either potential attorneys or Roz, her cellmate played by Katie Messina. (That’s who is with her in the photo above.) This Roz character may be around for the rest of the season, so don’t expect this to be a one-and-done episode for Joss behind bars.

Given that the title for Thursday’s episode is “What Could Have Been,” there is going to be a certain hypothetical construct to the story. You are specifically going to have a chance to see how she thinks that her life would be different had she just went ahead and stayed with Scott rather than run off with Harry and ultimately cause the wedding to fall apart.

Here’s the thing to remember here: If Joss and Scott had handled events differently, it’s possible that she would not have been in the exact place and time that she was when she first had the incident with Calista in the parking lot. Yet, would she have a real shot at happiness? Things may seem bad now, but we’re not giving up a hope for redemption here.
