‘Major Crimes’ season 4, episode 10 (summer finale) review: Rusty’s closure

MajorThroughout the entire fourth season of “Major Crimes,” Rusty has been hard at work trying to uncover the truth about Marianna Wallace. When he started, he was not even referring to her by that name. Eventually he managed to find a way to get to Gus and extension learned about Paloma, and make sure that she was okay.

The great news tonight is that we learned that Paloma is okay in a foster home. As for the bad news? There is no way for Rusty and Gus to reach out to her right now. For the time being, they must wait until she turns 18 to really spend too much time with her. The feeling that Rusty should feel now is relief in so many ways. He was able to prove that his hard work was worth the effort, and this is something that not everyone can be happy with. It just comes in such a somber way, as the episode ended with a proper service for Marianna. The good news here is that it was a step in the right direction for Andy and Rusty’s relationship, since he came through on his word.

Speaking of Andy, did anyone else out there love the moment with him and Sharon? This relationship has been a slow burn, but definitely worth it.

In the end, we know that there was another case that had its own intricacies, but it is hard to deliver really a quick account of all events there since these cases tend to blend together. For now, let’s just proclaim that this was above average, and the entire episode was lifted in some ways by the Sharon / Andy / Rusty stuff at the end. Grade: A- for the emotional moments.
