On tonight’s “Under the Dome” season 3 episode, it is fair to say that there was a very significant development that could shape the course of this show in some pretty enormous ways: Eva is pregnant, and all signs point at least realistically to Barbie being the father.
Is there really more to this story than it seems? Unfortunately, yes; as the promo below shows us, we could be on the precipice of one of science fiction’s great story cliches: A baby that is destined to hold some sort of great power. In this prophecy, apparently this unborn child could be some sort of future queen or something. Why do this? We hope that this is all just some sort of misdirection, since we’ve already been down this road so many times before with so many different shows. “True Blood” remains probably the one that freaked us out the most over the course of it all.
In case you are wondering why the synopsis below for “Plan B” does not mention the Eva story, the best answer that we can offer up right now is that it was released long before CBS aired Thursday’s episode, and understandably wanted to keep many things a secret.
“Big Jim and Julia devise plans to end Christine’s (Marg Helgenberger) control over the town by initiating a life-or-death plot involving Barbie and Eva, while Joe and Norrie conduct research to better understand the Dome’s ultimate agenda. Meanwhile, Hunter finds more information about the true head of Aktaion, the nefarious private corporation that wants to harness the Dome’s energy, on UNDER THE DOME, Thursday, August 13 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT), on the CBS Television Network. Eriq La Salle, who guest stars this season, directed the episode.”
