‘Mistresses’ season 3, episode 9 review: Joss in big trouble; Karen’s (possible) surprise
There are so many important little story threads to get to when it comes to Thursday night’s new episode of “Mistresses” on ABC, but it feels only appropriate to start with the following: Joss is screwed. Seriously screwed.
The big shocker at the end of this episode was the character being arrested for the murder of Luca, something her “friend” Calista Raines did very little to object to. Hey, where is a friend sticking up for another friend? Does a concept like that really even exist anymore? Not really. In its place we have something more akin to a one-time friend going into self-preservation mode, and then doing just about anything that she can in order to preserve her own hide a little bit.
Joss being red her rights sets her up in a position where she’s going to need a huge amount of help from Karen or someone else to get her way out of this situation … and we imagine that she’ll probably never agree to pretend to be interested in a woman’s husband ever again to expose him for a cheater.
Also, did we mention that Karen could be getting a pregnancy storyline? It was at least thrown out there tonight, and while we’re not sure there will be a definite end to this storyline in the next episode or two, we’re hoping she is not expecting Alec’s kid. They are all done with their bizarro relationship, and she deserves having a kid when she really wants one.
Meanwhile, April’s story about Blair and indifference is just … well, making us indifference. April’s been getting the short end of the stick most of the season, given that we’ve had a threesome story and a murder plot with the other characters. Marc was at least slightly in a more complicated situation, having a drink before Harry realized that he was a recovering alcoholic. At least it looks like he is on the right path now.
What we at least know as “Mistresses” viewers going into the final episodes of the season is rather simple: We are definitely on the crazy path! Grade: B+.
