‘The Astronaut Wives Club’ episode 9 preview: Heading to ‘The Dark Side’

There are only two episodes left on ABC’s “The Astronaut Wives Club,” and there is still so much ground for the series to cover no matter how you slice it. The show is going to be making its way up to the Moon landing and all of the impact that this had on the entire planet; before we come to that, though, next week’s installment “The Dark Side” is going to focus on Apollo 8 and preparing to take the next step in the space race.

Once again, the synopsis below hints that there will be great change for some of the wives as they have to deal with the ever-changing celebrity status in their lives, and how NASA has a vice-grip on so much of what happens around them:

“As the country seems to spiral out of control, the wives struggle to find their place in the new world order. Wally’s career at NASA ends, and Jo must redefine her role and priorities. Louise wrestles with the fear of losing her husband as Alan considers undergoing risky surgery that will determine his future. Susan Borman grapples with uncertainty as the Apollo 8 mission goes where no man has been before.”

Obviously, we feel for Louise quite a bit emotionally going into this episode. Just remember all of the deaths that have happened over the course of this season already (which is made even more harrowing by the fact that so much of this is real).
