‘The Bastard Executioner’: Latest video teases brutality, September premiere

TBXFX has been really prolific as of late when it comes to releasing teasers for the upcoming “The Bastard Executioner,” really to the point even where we have not had a particularly easy time even writing about all of them.

For the most part, many of them have just been tiny clips reminiscent of some that the network has used to promote “American Horror Story” in the past. The one below is slightly different just in terms of length, and if you hadn’t noticed yet from some of the other videos, there is now officially a September premiere tag attached to some of these. In the early going, the only date listed was “Fall.” Given that Kurt Sutter’s other series in “Sons of Anarchy” premiered in September, there is nothing about this that comes as a surprise. This is great counter-programming to some tamer network fare, and with Sutter’s devoted following there is less of a concern about it losing viewers to something on broadcast TV.

In terms of content, this promo does not give too much away other than that the medieval setting looks awesome, the visuals are great, and there will be some swordplay.

“The Bastard Executioner” is just one part of what is shaping up to be a really great fall for FX. They also have on tap for October the second season of “Fargo” (which is really a prequel to the first season) and also “American Horror Story: Hotel,” which boasts an amazing cast including Lady Gaga and Matt Bomer.

Speaking of casts, head over here to see a little of Lee Jones, the man at the center of “The Bastard Executioner,” courtesy of a new video. Also, sign up today to get some more great TV news on all we cover via our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: FX.)
