‘Hannibal’ season 3 star Hugh Dancy lands new role on Hulu’s ‘The Way’

Just in case you wanted more evidence that it could be a long time (if ever) before we get more “Hannibal” beyond this season, we now bring to you some more news regarding Hugh Dancy: Sources confirm that the actor has just signed on to appear in “The Way,” an upcoming ten-episode series from Hulu executive-produced by Jason Katims of “Friday Night Lights” and “Parenthood” fame.

As for who Dancy is going to play, he will be a person at the center of a religious movement in Cal Roberts. He is smart, charismatic, and has a tricky history with two other people involved in the movement in Sarah (Michelle Monaghan) and her husband Eddie (Aaron Paul).

We’re super-happy here for Hugh, mostly because it was not like there would be another season of “Hannibal” soon in the first place (Bryan Fuller has “American Gods” on Starz next), and this seems to be an awesome working environment. He is going to get a chance to work with one of the best executive-producers in the business right now, and also star in a project with two other great actors for a service that is still looking for its first huge original series. Hulu has been doing original content for a while, but there has not been one that has started with them that has gone on to be a huge success.

This show will probably premiere at some point in 2016, so we imagine that we are going to have a whole lot of news about at some point soon.

Oh, and this is at least some good news for a “Hannibal” cast member and a streaming service this week. It is definitely much nicer than seeing Amazon talk about why they are not giving the show a fourth season.
