‘Bachelor in Paradise 2’ premiere review: Ashley Salter in an ambulance; Jade Roper on a date

BP -There was a new season of “Bachelor in Paradise” that premiered officially on ABC Sunday night, and if there is one word to describe it, it is this: Cheesy. Seriously. We spent so much time on Jillian’s plastic surgery in this episode that we are shocked by it.

The best way to describe this episode is a series of one awkward moment after another. For example, Jared Haibon is like that person who becomes popular overnight and has no idea what in the world they are supposed to do with it. Ashley Iaconetti spent most of the two hours interested in him, but he still seems to be very much still in Kaitlyn Bristowe world. We feel for Ashley, but at least she has her sister Lauren to help cheer her up after any fights, right?

Let’s at least spend a minute on the Ashley Salter ambulance situation: All signs point to her probably just getting either exhausted, sick from the heat, or struggling with the conditions. She’s going to be fine. The show producers just like to shove an ambulance in here almost anywhere they can.

While Clare Crawley’s arrival and the return of Jillian’s black bar were memorable parts of the two hours (which were really stuffed full of filler), we imagine that there are two things that will be remembered as the most romantic.

1. The wedding of Marcus Grodd and Lacy Faddoul, otherwise known as the reminder that love can happen on this show.

2. Getting the chance to see Tanner Tolbert and Jade Roper had a nice first date. Could there be some promise here? This show is nuts, but there were a few nice moments. Grade: C+.
