‘Knock Knock Live’ knocking no more; Fox cancels Ryan Seacrest-hosted show

FoxIt looks like a few other potential families better stop expecting a knock to come on their door. After two extremely low-rated episodes, Fox has ended their experimental “Knock Knock Live” effective immediately.

It takes almost no effort to figure out what the reason is for the show coming to a close: The ratings were terrible. This past episode did not even muster two million viewers, and this is even when you consider that you had an appearance in here from Justin Bieber. If this was a few years ago, you have to consider that this would have at least brought a little more clout to the show. Unfortunately, that is not so much the case now.

We’re going to chalk up the failure of this show to two separate things:

1. While inspirational TV and giving deserving people gifts is something that almost everyone wants in theory, it’s difficult to get people excited enough to watch it. If you look at most reality TV in this genre, and the majority of them have been failures. You need something more than just giving good people rewards to make people want to actually watch on the other side.

2. You also have to consider here that the age of Ryan Seacrest has an A-list television personality is done. “American Idol” ratings are a shell of what they were, and outside of “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” and executive-producing “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” the media giant has not delivered on a major hit in quite a while.
