MTV’s ‘Scream’ episode 6 preview: Is Audrey the lead killer suspect now?

Scream -Through the first five episodes or so, MTV’s “Scream” has done a very good job of giving us a wide array of possible suspects for who the killer could potentially be. Have they been as successful when it comes to actually killing off enough people? Probably not, and with the fairly high body count from the films, we have really had much higher expectations when it came to the show mirroring the large death toll.

Still, next week’s new episode seems to be teasing that someone close to Emma is going to be the focus, while the promo shows Audrey being questioned for having DNA in a not-so-great part of the mask. Given that this is only episode 6, we cannot imagine the killer being revealed this soon before the finale … but maybe there are a few clues sprinkled in here? The movies liked to have the real killer brought up as a suspect early on, then cleared of all wrong doings, only to be the killer in the end, so it’s possible that they’ve pointed us to the real killer early on only to guide us away with a firm hand to someone else.

We still feel like the challenge for this show is trying to figure out a way to bridge the gap between the insanity of the movies and what they can do for a series on MTV. There are still some growing pains, but we do admire the fact that the show is out there and someone is experimenting with the concept of horror on TV since tere’s not a lot of that going on right now.

Perhaps the best thing about this series is that it is has already been renewed for season 2. That will help to ensure that it has the time to build, figure out what worked in the first season, and then move forward from there.
