‘Suits’ season 5, episode 5 review: Harvey acts out; Mike helps with Travis Tanner

What's next -Tonight, revelations were the key to the story on “Suits.” After weeks of uncertainty, what we ultimately had here were some characters who had to face the truth. Some of it was personal, and some of it professional.

For Louis Litt, he had to face the truth for once and for all about his role in the compensation business, and how he did purposefully try to screw Harvey over despite his protests otherwise. He made the wrong moves when it comes to Jack Soloff, and realized soon after that he made a big mistake. For some reason, we’ve seen time and time again from Louis that he is a guy who has to learn the hard way. It doesn’t have to be so difficult on him, and yet he decides to make things incredibly tricky.

Here is the funny thing: Despite Louis not being honest with Jessica at role about him being complicit in the compensation fiasco, she still found a way to move past it and chastise Soloff instead. Jessica ultimately understands Louis better sometimes than he knows himself; she knows that there is a heart in there, and she telegraphed almost his entire path.

Now, let’s move towards the story of Harvey tonight, who was having a hard time dealing with the return of his longtime rival Travis Tanner. Thanks to some maneuvering courtesy of Mike Ross, Harvey put him in a position where he didn’t have to interact much with Tanner. That is a good thing, since he was having difficult dreams about Donna being in bed with Tanner. Also, through the discussions with his therapist we seem to have figured out where many of his problems trace back to: The relationship with his mother. If he cannot deal with that, he may not be able to deal with anyone.

This was a solid “Suits” episode thanks to the Harvey scenes mostly, and seeing Louis Litt practically faint at the end given that he managed to convince Donna and Rachel to join him for what he considers a good time. Grade: B+.
