Are ‘UnREAL’s’ ratings still strong following season 2 renewal?

UnREAL -We admit that there was a time earlier this year where we thought that “UnREAL” was not a show destined to come back, despite however good we may think that it is. The ratings have never been particularly stellar, and thanks to that it was hard to see the critical acclaim being enough to earn the show another go-around on Lifetime.

Sometimes, though, we are rather happy to be wrong, and that includes with this show. Lifetime renewed the series recently for a second season, and while there is not necessarily anything to worry about anymore when it comes to the show’s numbers, we do still have the curiosity there to see how it fares moving forward this summer.

So far, the news is good. This past episode drew a 0.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and around 730,000 live viewers, which is a tiny improvement on the week before. The trajectory of the show’s ratings show us for the most part that some stopped watching after the premiere, but the majority of fans stuck with it … though many of them chose to binge-watch the third and fourth episodes online once Lifetime made them available there early. Episode 4 marked the series’ low point in most important measures.

Given that this show is a great one to binge, we are interested to see if it getting on Netflix or another provider after the fact will be a boost to its numbers in the future. We know that we’re far from the only person out there recommending “UnREAL” at the moment, but it is a little far into the season for some to be able to catch up before the finale.
