‘Empire’ season 2 spoilers: See Taraji P. Henson, Terence Howard in new promo

“Empire” started production a number of weeks ago on season 2, and it seems like there is at least enough filming now in the can for Fox to release the first promo for the upcoming September 23 premiere.

What can we expect in here? It is not exactly like there is a whole lot of substantial footage in this promo; for the most part, it is just a series of people walking around in different hallways looking imposing. Still, Fox knows what to give people if you want them to start being a little bit excited in the story ahead: A scene featuring Terence Howard (whose character Lucious Lyon is currently behind bars) and Taraji P. Henson as Cookie.

While there are no specific expectations that we have for the rest of “Empire” season 2, we hope that the show doesn’t lose sight at all on what made it so interesting in the first place: A fast pace for the story, and a focus supremely on the Lyon family and Empire Entertainment. We’re worried primarily at the moment about two separate things.

1. The episode count – We would’ve been fine if it remained at 12 episodes for the second season. Sure, more of something you like can be good, but it can also lead to exhaustion and stretching out stories that don’t need to be stretched.

2. Guest stars – We get it: A lot of really famous people want to be on the show. Let’s just hope that they all have a reason to be there beyond the show flexing its casting muscles.
