‘True Detective’ season 2, episode 4 reaction: Rachel McAdams on mass shooting sequence
This past episode of “True Detective” definitely proved itself to be one of the craziest we’ve at least seen so far this season. We had a feeling that the show would have its own version of the raid we saw in the first season, and it had that via the mass shootout that took place involving her character of Ani and many others. We don’t want to compare it too much to season 1 here, but suffice it to say that this was one of the craziest sequences that we’ve seen on almost any show. There was a ton of action, and also a ton of fake dead bodies at the very end.
In case you were wondering what it was like to shoot this particular scene, know this: It specifically made Rachel McAdams sick. Here is what she had to say per Variety on this this scene while promoting her new movie “Southpaw”:
“That one took about five days … That was pretty intense. I actually puked during that scene. When I was running and reloading my gun — it actually wound up being about 200 yards, it was like two football fields — and I was just going all out and we did it a couple of times.
“It was my own fault [I got sick]. I had been drinking that EmergenC and going hard to just try to keep my energy up. Not a good combination, the running and that. But I kind of felt bada–. Like yeah, let’s do it again. It was really fun though. I like action. I like being thrust into that.”
Given that this investigation into Caspere’s death is still far from over, the thing here is that we definitely imagine that we are going to have much more in the way of these sort of scenes before the season ends … though maybe not on this level.
