‘The Bastard Executioner’ trailer to air during ‘The Strain’ season 2 premiere

Executioner -The Bastard Executioner” is coming to FX this fall, but luckily the long wait to get some further scoop related to the show is almost over! Attendees of Comic-Con may be getting a chance to see / hear a few new things about the show today, but for everyone else, we are currently mired in a waiting game until tonight.

This afternoon, the show’s official Twitter account made it clear that the first trailer for Kurt Sutter’s follow-up to “Sons of Anarchy” will air during the season 2 premiere of “The Strain.” While we’ve seen everything from concept art to the occasional set video from Wales, this will be the first time that we’ll get to actually see some legitimate footage of the story itself. Exciting, no? The cast for the series includes Lee Jones, Stephen Moyer, Katey Sagal, and even Sutter himself. It’s a very different sort of medieval story than the ones you are used to, which for the most part have tended to overplay either the romance or the chivalry of the time.

Update: We have the video now! Watch here. It’s really more of a promo than a trailer but it’s great either way.

If you are a long-time reader of CarterMatt, we really do not think we need to hype it up for you any more how excited we are for this show to premiere. Sutter is one of TV’s top visionaries, and one of the best directors working in Paris Barclay is doing the pilot. Add to that a beautiful setting and an accomplished cast, and you have something that could further the legacy of great cable television. We have a feeling that we’re going to have a great time writing about this throughout the months ahead.

Excited for the trailer? Come back later for impressions, and you can share your thoughts as always in the comments.
