ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 8: Stana Katic on Beckett’s future, trust in writers, more

The latest -You heard a little bit about “Castle” from Nathan Fillion earlier this weekend at San Diego Comic-Con. Unfortunately, it has been years since the entire cast of the show got a chance to do a panel at the event, but that hasn’t stopped Stana Katic from sharing some of her thoughts in another medium.

After a stay away from social media for part of the summer Stana has been a little more active lately, and conducted a brief Twitter Q&A earlier in which she answered a few questions. In terms of “Castle,” she has to be gearing up for the start of season 8 filming. The entire cast should be back together at some point in the days ahead, and the season is set to premiere on Monday, September 21 on ABC. There are plans to make at least 22 episodes, so those fears about a shorter season have been squelched, at least for now. Terence Paul Winter and Alexi Hawley are the new showrunners.

Ready for some of her answers? Then here we go…

let’s start with her reaction to the departure of Penny Johnson Jerald (Captain Gates) after several seasons on the job. Of course, she is sad; you make great connections to people thanks to the time you spend with them.

Stana said recently that she hadn’t really seen anything on the new season just yet, and this message seems to reflect that in a pretty big way. With that said, she does continue to have faith in the showrunners to deliver something great.

Finally, Stana seems to be content with whatever the team decides will be the future for Kate Beckett, after she was offered the chance to run for office at the end of season 7.
