‘Heroes: Reborn’ trailer: An evil Zachary Levi, Masi Oka’s return and more

Heroes -At the start of its San Diego Comic-Con panel today “Heroes: Reborn” unveiled its new trailer, and dare we say that it brings back so many fond memories of what this great show once was? Back during the first season, this was a revelation, a truly original superhero product in an age of adaptation.

Where we feel like the series went wrong was ultimately not having much of a concise plan after that. Having to come up with huge stories every year proved to be too great of a challenge for the series, especially since it started getting to the point where it felt pressure to top itself and to create people with crazier and crazier powers.

For this NBC revival premiering this September, some of that seems to rectified. With a limited series order, this is designed to be a standalone tale with a beginning, middle, and end. Everything can be planned out in advance, and the trailer below certainly comes across as rather awesome. We’re not going to say that there was any huge surprise in here (save for maybe seeing Micah and reminding ourselves that this was just a young kid when the show began), there were a few moments that stood out to us.

1. Seeing Zachary Levi as a villain who wants to do away with many of the heroes.

2. Jack Coleman’s Noah Bennett and the Haitian interacting once again; plus, the horn-rimmed glasses are out!

3. The return of Mohinder Suresh, Matt Parkman, and the beloved Hiro Nakamura played by Masi Oka.

4. Some intriguing new characters, including a high schooler played by Robbie Kay of “Once Upon a Time” fame.

Suffice it to say, we’re intrigued already if this show can live up to expectations. You can read more about “Heroes: Reborn” over at the link here, and be sure to sign up right away to get some other updates on everything we cover, sent right to you via our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: NBC.)
