‘Legends of Tomorrow’ spoilers: Hawkman to join Hawkgirl

There was a time in which we felt like we were not going to get Hawkman in any capacity on DC’s “Legends of Tomorrow,” and there was a pretty simple reason for that: The movies probably wanted to use him, and this meant that the show was probably just allowed Hawkgirl instead.

However, it turns out that this is not necessarily the case, after all! It was announced last night at the show’s official San Diego Comic-Con panel that we are going to get a chance to see the male counterpart of this superhero during the series, though there is no confirmation just yet as to who will be playing him. We’re excited about where all of this could go, since there is a much deeper mythology here that has not been fully explored. Hawkman is a tricky character, mostly because he’s kind of like Aquaman. He can be thought of in the wrong hands as extremely cheesy, but with the right people involved in the right person in the role, he can suddenly be awesome. There’s a reason so many people are excited for Jason Momoa in the movie universe.

This series will not start filming for a little while longer, and we’re still waiting on casting for some other characters, as well. For example, it is not entirely clear just yet who will be playing Vandal Savage, the season 1 Big Bad who is thousands of years old and capable of mass destruction.

Still, we at least know some more great stuff courtesy of Comic-Con yesterday. The series is going to have a two-hour premiere episode, and the new characters will be introduced on “Arrow” and “The Flash.”
