TV Quick Hits: ‘The Muppets’ fun, ‘Salem’ renewed for season 3, Conan O’Brien’s Comic-Con return
There are so many different stories breaking at Comic-Con that ultimately, it’s hard to really find room for all of them in separate articles! Therefore, we’ve compiled a quick package of three micro-stories that we hope you will enjoy here.
“The Muppets” panel – We absolutely love the presentation for this upcoming comedy, and it was also really fun to see some of the characters, puppeteers, and producers get together for a panel today. What we learned in part from this panel (via executive producer Bill Prady) is that “the trick … if it works, is to make it feel for the first time that you’re seeing the Muppets in our world.” They will be roaming around, and will not just confined to some stage or set in a way that they have been in the past.
Also, remember Fozzie Bear dating a human woman from the show’s trailer? Well, it sounds like that is going to continue, and Gonzo is going to find himself getting more into the online dating world.
“Salem” renewed – One of WGN America’s flagship shows will be coming back! While we’re not going to say that “Salem” is getting enormous ratings, it does have a dedicated following. Season 3 will start filming in Louisiana a little later this year, and will premiere at some point in the first half of 2016.
Conan O’Brien will return – For those wondering, Conan will be back at Comic-Con next year! He has done a great job as of late adding another dose of nerdy culture to a convention that already celebrates nerds at their best. Only a select few late-night comics could pull this off (and Craig Ferguson is no longer on CBS, sadly).
