‘Wayward Pines’ continues to impress in DVR ratings
The first season of “Wayward Pines” has had some various highs and lows, but for the most part, we do still feel like Fox should be considering this a ratings success story. It has continued to fare very well in the DVR ratings, and also has amassed a devoted following in a short amount of time.
The latest proof of the series’ commercial success comes in the live+3 ratings for the series’ June 25 airing. Per a report from TVbythenumbers, the show improved by close to 80% in the 18-49 demographic, rising from a 1.2 to a 2.2. That is an extremely impressive figure now matter how you slice it, and it further proves what sort of long-term viability the series could have. While you do always want to see shows deliver hefty live numbers, at least you can monetize live+3 data to a certain extent.
If the series keeps it up, we’re going to chalk up a season 2 renewal as fairly likely.
So how could a season 2 even be possible? This is something that we are hearing often, mostly because of comments that the show is planning to tie up most of the story this year in a self-contained arc. Our response to that is twofold.
1. It is very well possible that the writers could just come up with a different self-contained arc for the second season if compelled to do so.
2. For those wondering about the relation between the book and the TV series, who says that the show has to follow the source material entirely moving forward? It’s all speculation, so we will just see what happens.
