‘True Detective’ season 2, episode 4 preview: Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn’s story in ‘Down Will Come’
For the show itself, this is going to be an opportunity for a comeback after tonight’s episode failed to present every aspect of the narrative successfully. The biggest problem is trying to make us buy that Ray Velcoro would survive getting shot in the way in which he was.
The promo that aired after tonight’s episode at least gave us a sense somewhat of where this story is going. Ray is going to visit his son (or at least who he considers his son) in order to have something closer to a last goodbye. Meanwhile, Ray has to confront what he did, and how he may have to re-enter the criminal game in order to make progress on the case.
The stories for Paul and Ani coming up are somewhat more mysterious, though Taylor Kitsch’s character in particular seems to be struggling with where he is, trapped on the inside and not knowing where to turn next.
