‘Suits’ renewed for season 6 (just one episode into season 5)

Obviously, USA is not in the business right now of waiting to proclaim just what it is that they want. Just one week into its present season, the network has officially confirmed that “Suits” is going to be coming back for a sixth go-around in 2016. Why make this announcement so early? It may because it is the network’s #1 hit at the moment, it’s a great show, and there was no reason to delay the inevitable. If they knew what they wanted to do with the show, why wait around on it?

In a statement, network president Chris McCumber of course touted everything that is great about this show:

“Suits has set the bar high in every way and continues to be a strong performer and marquee property for USA … From the incredible on-screen performances and brilliant writing to the aspirational lifestyle portrayed, we look forward to continuing to bring viewers into the world of Suits every week.”

Now that this has been said, just how long can “Suits” last? This doesn’t seem like the sort of show that has a premise dictating that it lasts nine or ten seasons, as much as we love it and its performances. Sooner or later, Mike Ross’ secret is going to have to become public knowledge, right? It feels that so many people know about at the moment that there is really not anything secret about it at all.
