‘The Simpsons’ video: Homer and Marge take on divorce rumors themselves

“The Simpsons” have had a little bit of a tougher week than usual. Not only is the animated juggernaut still dealing with the fact that Harry Shearer may not be returning to voice many of his beloved characters, but at the same time there have also been some divorce rumors when it comes to the show’s own stars in Marge and Homer!

Ultimately, this is precisely what the video below is for! As you can see in it, the two characters are spending a few minutes to address and/or mock the fact that there were stories out there suggesting that they were done. Specifically, many of their barbs are sent in the direction of CNN, which has to be fair a pretty easy target as of late with some of their coverage.

For those unsure about how some of these rumors started, it came from an upcoming storyline that is going to feature Lena Dunham as a potentially flirtatious pharmacist. In the story, Homer and Marge may become temporarily separated.

So how did this become a divorce? We really attribute it more than anything else to the media not knowing when to stop when it comes to media craziness. They probably assumed that somehow, the events of one story would lead to something permanent, even with the knowledge that new episodes of the show typically tend to forget almost everything that came beforehand.

“The Simpsons” will be back with some new episodes coming up this fall, and we will have some more (and hopefully happier) coverage along the way.
