‘Game of Thrones’ video: George R.R. Martin on key Lena Headey – finale scene
Have you recovered at all from the “Game of Thrones” season 5 finale? We imagine that there is effectively still quite a bit to be processing in one form or another, whether you are talking about a few surprising deaths or a particular scene that has been in the making almost for the entire year: The Walk of Atonement for Cersei Lannister. We are not entirely sure that it can ever be forgotten, given that it may be one of the most terrible things done to the character, and maybe for some out there it changes perception of her.
What A Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R. Martin does in the video below is describe further the scene that features her walking through the streets, while being pelted with mud and other more disgusting things. She eventually makes it home, but not before being stripped completely bare. (Don’t worry: The video is not particularly revealing.)
We wonder if HBO had Martin provide some additional commentary here because this is a scene in particular that he is able to do it for. There’s nothing particularly about this one that stands out about this scene versus the books, at least when you think of some of the massive deviations that have surfaces elsewhere.
At the end, we’re left to wonder what happens next with Cersei, and also what will become of Margaery and Loras Tyrell given that we have yet to see either one of them meet their fate.
