‘Secrets and Lies’ season 2 spoilers: ‘The Following’ alum Michael Ealy to star

We knew that “Secrets and Lies” would be undergoing a massive makeover for its second season, given that the season 1 story was mostly wrapped up, and the show was looking to relish an opportunity to tell a story that was for the most part completely new.

Luckily, we now have some other details all about what this completely-new start could mean. According to a report coming in now via Deadline, Michael Ealy is coming off of an evil turn on “The Following” to star in the ABC show’s second season. He is set to play the part of Eric, a man who seems to have a whole lot going for him, and is even set to take over soon his father’s private equity firm. However, everything changes for him in a split second the moment that his wife Kate is found dead. Andrea Cornell (Juliette Lewis, the show’s only returning cast member) is going to be a part of the investigation.

We should point out here that it is not exactly confirmed that Ealy’s character is a suspect in the murder, and we really hope that he is not given that he is just coming off of playing a very cruel / ruthless character. Why not let the guy play someone a little more sympathetic now?

The second season of “Secrets & Lies” should air at some point at midseason, where it is going to reside in a new timeslot after the ABC comedy block Wednesday. It will provide a break for “Nashville,” and we wonder if it will get a more prominent position if it actually gets higher ratings than the country-music drama.
