‘Fear the Walking Dead’ spoilers: How the infection may be explored

Fear -While “Fear the Walking Dead” is from writer Robert Kirkman and in the same universe as the flagship AMC show, clearly everyone involved understands one key pressure: They don’t want to be too similar to “The Walking Dead” itself. Not only that, but you want to give people who are already watching that show a reason to check this one out. Time is valuable for the average TV viewer, and this is really something that should be considered.

So what does Kirkman have to say on some of these concerns? Speaking in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, the comic author explained that there are a few incentives to finding out the zombie apocalypse’s origin that should entice people to watch. Not only that, but you may be some answers to some long-simmering questions about some of the rules of this world:

“Everything that happens in Fear The Walking Dead is in the same universe as The Walking Dead … So any rule that we find out and anything they see in the early days is definitely something that was happening in the past of the other show. These two shows are very intertwined in the same world, even if their characters aren’t necessarily going to interact because of geographical distances. So yeah, anything that you learn from Fear the Walking Dead will apply to the mythology of The Walking Dead and vice versa. So you are going to get to see that the characters learn that they’re all infected in a much different way. But all the rules do apply and are the same. That will be some of the fun if you’re watching both shows.”

“Fear the Walking Dead” premieres this August on AMC, and we’ll have so much more in the way of news on it well before that time. Stay tuned!
