Lester Holt expected to remain NBC Nightly News anchor; Brian Williams decision looms

NBC -Are we about to get to the end of the long NBC nightmare known as the Brian Williams saga? It is starting to appear that way.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lester Holt is expected to remain the anchor of the NBC Nightly News after taking this spot ever since Williams was first suspended indefinitely for embellishing comments about his time spent reporting in Iraq. There have been frequent discussions on whether or not the anchor would ever return to the network, and if he was, what his role would be. There have even been rumors regarding whether or not he would be handed a role at a sister network like MSNBC, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet. The only thing that the report does mention is that there is a major decision coming soon.

Ultimately, we do think Williams will eventually be in need of some sort of new career path, but at the same time, we would be shocked if he ever ended up being unemployed for a significant period of time. There will be a network or a news outlet still willing to take a chance on him, mostly because despite his indiscretion and the fear that he is not trusted in the way he once was, he did anchor a #1 news broadcast. We’ll just have to see what happens.

At this point, though, the best things for all parties involved would simply be if there is a way for everyone to now move on to the next big thing.
