‘Episodes’ season 5 official; Matt LeBlanc series will return to Showtime

The latest -It’s been pretty amazing to see how, so many years removed from “Friends,” Matt LeBlanc has, just like Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, and others, carved out such a nice career for himself. “Episodes” has been going strongly for the past four seasons on Showtime, and we are pleased to hear today that another nine episodes are coming. The show is quirky but also fun, highlighted mostly by LeBlanc himself willing to play a very hilarious persona of himself.

While it has been a great run, is it starting to see like we are getting near the end of it? We have to at least consider that, given that premium cable comedies rarely last that long, and we don’t see this one lasting the eight seasons that “Weeds” did. For now, though, let’s just celebrate the renewal, shall we?

In a statement confirming the good news, network president David Nevins had the following message to share:

“We are so pleased to continue working with David Crane and Jeffrey Klarik, two of the sharpest creative minds in comedy, along with the incredibly talented cast, led by Matt LeBlanc … And now that viewers have even more ways to access Showtime programming, I’m excited for a whole new audience to watch this smart, funny comedy gem.”

This new season will more than likely premiere next year, and we imagine that we’ll get some other news about it in the months ahead. For now, just know that this show joins a comedy repertoire on the network that also includes “Shameless” and “House of Lies,” which are also coming back for more.
