‘Daredevil’ season 2 spoilers: Jon Bernthal of ‘The Walking Dead’ in as The Punisher

“Daredevil” has just cast one of its most important players for its upcoming second season, and it is someone very familiar to even some more casual Marvel fans: We’re going to meet The Punisher!

As first reported by Marvel itself, Jon Bernthal, most famous for spending two seasons as Shane on “The Walking Dead,” is going to be coming aboard the second season of the Netflix series in the role of Frank Castle, who of course goes by the famed alter ego. We’ve seen movie incarnations of the character before, but this is the first time that we’re going to be seeing him thrown officially into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Exciting, no?

We’re still thrilled to hear this casting, but at the same time we do find ourselves wondering if there could be even more great things that come from having The Punisher officially aboard as a part of this universe now. He is one of the more noteworthy people, other of course than Daredevil, to be featured heavily in the TV side of things. We do really think that a Punisher series could work down the line, especially if they got the right people involved and it was on a network where some of the violence would be uncensored enough for it to make sense.

You can expect to see the second season of “Daredevil” streaming at some point next year, and we’ll have so much more news to report on well before then.
