‘Scream Queens’ spoilers: Another teaser, another trick

Even though we are still several months removed from the official premiere of “Scream Queens” over on Fox, that is clearly not stopping the network from promoting the show at just about every opportunity.

The latest preview video below for the show is the classic bait-and-switch. At first, it may appear as though you are looking at the average sorority sister. After that, though, it is almost immediately obvious that there is something far more sinister at play here, and the young woman is actually dead. This is something that will happen often throughout the Ryan Murphy series, which has an enormous / impressive cast and therefore quite a few characters who can be killed off before we make it to the end of the season.

For the most part, we do think it’s a solid campaign. We occasionally worry about the show being hyped a little too much, but for now we feel like this should be a solid hit.

One thing that is somewhat subtle worth pointing out here is that there has been a change in the sorority lettering. When the early trailers for the show premiered, Chanel (Emma Roberts) was wearing a shirt that bore the letters Kappa Nu Tau (KNT). Now, it has been changed to Kappa Kappa Tau (KKT), and even in the first promo featuring Chanel the background letters have been digitally altered to signify the shift. Why the change? It’s pretty simple: KNT is not that far from being an offensive term, and Fox is still a broadcast TV network. If this show was airing on FX, it’s possible that the network gets away with that.
