’24’ season 10 could be ‘spin-off’ with new lead; Kiefer Sutherland, Yvonne Strahovski could appear

It appears that there may still be a future for “24” as a franchise, after all, but it may not necessarily be about the worst day in Jack Bauer’s life anymore.

Rather, franchise head Howard Gordon told TVLine at the Critics’ Choice TV Awards that they are looking at potentially casting a new male lead in his twenties to shepherd the franchise moving forward. The plan would be to give the show a fresh look, but then use Kiefer Sutherland for a certain percentage of the series. Last we saw Jack, he was being taken away at the end of “24: Live Another Day,” one of many sacrifices that was made during what we felt overall was a pretty stellar 12-episode run for the show. After that, it’s pretty easy to see why Fox would want to keep the series going in some capacity.

With that being said, we were mostly sold on the idea of continuing the show potentially with Yvonne Strahovski’s character of Kate Morgan as the lead, though the site claims that she may still appear in some capacity on a new show. She is busy this summer with “The Astronaut Wives Club” on ABC.

Regardless of what happens with a new “24” series, you can bet that this is a project that is still a very long ways away from being completed. Hopefully, we will get some other insight into what the future holds either at Comic-Con, TCA, or some other event later on this year, but Fox seems to have most of their plans for at least the 2015-16 season set in stone at this point.

What do you think about this idea, and moving the “24” franchise away from Jack to a certain degree? Share below.
