Tracy Morgan gives emotional first interview on ‘Today Show’ since crash

The latest -Tracy Morgan has spent most of the past year on a long, emotional journey, one that began when a Walmart truck struck a limousine / bus carrying him, his friend James “Jimmy Mack” McNair, and others. McNair died as a result of his injuries, while Tracy was severely injured and was forced to endure a long recovery. A lawsuit was filed against Walmart that was just settled last week, and Tracy made his first TV appearance since the crash on “The Today Show” in a sit-down interview with Matt Lauer.

This interview was in many ways tough to watch, primarily because you could get the sense almost from start to finish that Morgan was still struggling with everything that happened to him as a result of the crash. His injuries were still impacting him, and he said that he is still having a hard time even remembering things.

One of the more illuminating parts of this was when Morgan said that the majority of the time, he prefers to travel to his comedy gigs with his family. However, the main reason that this did not happen here was because his daughter was teething, so he told her and his fiancee to stay home, and he would be back soon from a gig in Delaware.

Morgan makes it clear that he does want to return to performing comedy at some point in the future, but for now he is still focused on the healing process and it may take some time before he is 100%.
