‘American Idol’ host Ryan Seacrest taking on Fox summer series ‘Knock Knock’

Fox -Just because Ryan Seacrest is going to be ending his run on “American Idol” next year does not even remotely end that his time on Fox is coming to a halt. Today, it was announced that Seacrest will be hosting and executive-producing a new series alongside “American Idol” creator Simon Fuller entitled “Knock Knock,” which is surprisingly not going to be a show about jokes.

Instead, the premise for this particular series is somewhat simple: Someone comes to your door, and you have to fulfill a simple live challenge in order to win a prize. Sometimes this means cash, or it could mean a trip or something else of great magnitude. This show has a July 21 premiere date, meaning that Fox is planning to turn this around quickly.

While this idea may seem somewhat hokey and a surprising continuance of the recent game-show craze, we will say here that Fox may be onto something with this idea. It’s live so there is that incentive, and there is a strong celebrity component here potentially if you send famous people out to knock on various contestants’ doors. It is at least a reality show on Fox that does not seem to based on something either sleazy or exploitative, and they have done plenty of those in years past.

We will have more on this show and many others as time progresses, so be sure to stay tuned for more.
