‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 16 finale spoilers: A quick Amaro tease
We have spent a huge amount of time as of late discussing Wednesday night’s “Law & Order: SVU” finale and the variety of different events that are going to happen throughout when it comes to Olivia Benson. However, in the process we have not spoken nearly as much about some of the story lying ahead for Amaro.
We know already that Benson is preparing to eventually become Lieutenant. However, could Danny Pino’s character get a promotion to Sergeant? This is the subject of the short Vine below posted by the show’s writers, as he briefly discusses the matter with Rollins (Kelli Giddish). With the departure of several higher-ranking characters over the past couple of seasons, it does make a little bit of sense for there to be a changing of the guard. Amaro has certainly been through plenty with the SVU, and while we have certainly seen that he is far from perfect, he is committed to his job and also committed to doing the right thing.
We’re not sure if we will learn one way or another at this point if we will get a chance to see what the next stage of Amaro’s career is, mostly because there is so much ground that the show needs to cover. A good percentage of this ground revolves around Baby Noah, and whether or not Johnny D’s information will jeopardize the child’s future with Benson.
We will have more on this big episode of the show soon, so be sure to stay tuned for more on that.

Would Amaro be a good Sergeant? I think that he would, but it would seem very weird watching Fin(ICE-T) take orders from Amaro, never mind watching Rollins take orders from him. This is where NBC really screwed up. IF there was ANY CHANCE IN THE WORLD that they could have kept Donal Logue on the show(He’s on GOTHAM now) they should have signed him to stay on SVU. He could have been the Captain, Benson could have stayed the Sergeant, and everything would make sense. If Amaro becomes the Sergeant, it’s going to make a mess of the ROLLARO relationship that so many people want to happen. Since there is almost ZERO chance of Dann Florek or Richard Belzer coming back to the show full time, maybe they will bring in someone to be the Captain that won’t cost a lot of money. Kathryn Erbe perhaps? I would guess that if they brought someone in to be the Captain, We will probably not see Peter Scanavino anymore, unless heaven forbid NBC actually is willing to INCREASE THE SVU PAYROLL! What a miracle that would be.
