‘Mad Men’ season 7, episode 13 podcast: Talking ‘The Milk and Honey Route’ with Jessa
Tonight marks the big series finale of “Mad Men,” but before you get a chance to listen to that, why not take a minute or two to focus on something else? We’re here to discuss “The Milk and Honey Route” for what is the penultimate edition of our CarterMatt Podcast on the show with Jessa.
Within the 35 or so minute podcast below, Matt Carter and Jessa go through what are some of the overall themes and storylines that were present within this episode from start to finish, beginning with some of the bigger shockers when it comes to Don Draper and his decision to head all the way to Oklahoma. What is he meant to take away from this journey, and are we supposed to view this in some sort of way as a tie to the show’s title, a reference to a famed “guidebook for hobos from the 1930s”?
While Don is giving away much of what he owns, we also have to remember in here that another key part of the story is tied to Betty and what is going on with her at the moment. Her struggle with lung cancer will most likely change things for Don, and it is definitely a sad ending for her character. We’re going to spend a little bit of time speculating as to what is going to happen there.
Also, we of course tie together the story of Pete Campbell, a man who may have finally found some redemption for himself. We may not see Pete again in the last episode, but we’ll be okay if this is the end.
