‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: Last-minute fun with Louis CK, Rihanna, and Leslie Jones

Here is how quickly Leslie Jones has risen up the ranks on “Saturday Night Live.” Even though this is only her first season as featured player and second year with a presence on the show, she is already getting the promo treatment! This is just another reminder that sometimes with this show, a breakout star can just come out and take over almost right away.

In the promo below, Leslie is funny in the limited screen time that she has with host Louis CK and musical guest Rihanna, who we always like as a part of the series. While she may not always be everyone’s cup of tea musically, she has always shown a propensity to come on here and really make fun of herself. She is somewhat similar in a way to Katy Perry in that regard, who is really great at mocking herself in a variety of different capacities.

The only bummer with Rihanna being on now that some of our favorite sketches featuring her were with Andy Samberg as “Shy Ronnie,” and Andy is no longer a part of the show. We’d dream for a cameo, but we don’t want to get our hopes up.

Still, we do have CK, and there is something very funny to us about the idea of him sharing a scene with the pop superstar if that ever comes up. Maybe some of that is because she does not feel like the sort of person that he would ever hang around, or that the comic is just really great at having this ordinary guy persona even though he is at this point exceedingly famous and has more success than almost anyone else in his field.
