‘Saturday Night Live’ finale preview: Louis CK, Kate McKinnon are instantly hilarious

SNL -The finale of “Saturday Night Live” is now only a day away from airing, and we are already starting to get a sense that Kate McKinnon and Louis CK need to be in almost every sketch together. This may be the funniest promo of the season, in between CK’s deadpan delivery (i.e. him acting like he is yet another “The Avengers: Age of Ultron” cast member on the show) and also Kate telling him that this his final appearance on the show.

The reason that we think that these two work so well together is because they are in so many ways diametrically opposed. When it comes to CK, you have someone who is famously low-energy, but often finds great humor responding to some of the wackiness that surrounds him. In the case of McKinnon, she is wonderful at playing these sort of crazy characters, such as someone threatening to take out the comic if he starts to act like “SNL” is becoming his turf.

At first, we were surprised that the show chose the “Louie” star for the finale, given that he is not a former cast member, nor is he a huge movie star or a guy like Justin Timberlake. However, he is starting to become a signature host like Alec Baldwin, Steve Martin, or even recently Dwayne Johnson. He is not at that level yet, but he is a funny guy and his previous hosting stints have led to some nomination love from the Emmys.

We’re going to talk more about Louis and musical guest Rihanna tomorrow morning, so be on the lookout for that.
