‘Arrow’ season 4 spoilers: Is Damien Dahrk officially the big bad?

Arrow -For anyone who was curious to see what sort of cliffhanger we were going to get in the “Arrow” finale on Wednesday, there were a few isolated ones that took place throughout the night. Malcolm Merlyn is now the new Ra’s al Ghul, Ray Palmer may have superpowers now, and Oliver Queen is off loving life for Felicity Smoak.

So what about Damien Dahrk? He is a pretty dark character (pun intended), and he is someone who was almost introduced in the finale. We learned that this was one of the motivations for the old Ra’s destroying Starling City, but Dahrk took off after he caught wind of the plan. While we assumed that he was the next Big Bad already, this was confirmed by Marc Guggenheim’s latest interview with Variety:

“We’re kind of doing a lot more in terms of the big bad for next year than we have in previous season finales. We first heard about Damien Darhk in episode 321 and there’s a pivotal sequence that surrounds Damien Darhk in the season three finale, so that’s exciting. It feels like we’re pulling a “True Blood” or a “Sons of Anarchy” where the big bad for the following year is teed up in the season finale of this year, so that’s kind of exciting for me because that’s something we’ve never seen before.”

Dahrk is the leader of HIVE, which is a very powerful organization that contains a variety of different villains. Personally, we hope that this will also lead to an introduction of Queen Bee. As for someone like Constantine, we’re still hoping that the show is moved over to The CW so this is possible.
