‘iZombie’ season 1, episode 10 review: Did Ravi tell Major the zombie secret?

izombieIs Lowell actually dead? This is the big question we have going into this episode of “iZombie” and we are hoping that we will get an answer to that fairly early in the episode. We really love the Lowell character and think he gives a wonderful balance to Liv, so we really hope that that he’s not dead, but it’s not looking good. Let’s see what happens.

When Ravi gets the body bag with Lowell’s body in it, it’s clear that our hopes for Lowell coming back are over. It gets worse when it looks like Liv is a suspect in his death and her lying to the police about her whereabouts aren’t helping the situation, but Suzuki comes in and tells everyone that this is now a confirmed suicide and that Liv is off the hook. Ravi is confused as to why Suzuki asked him to make Lowell’s documentation look like a suicide and is also wondering why the whole police department is in his pocket (this is clearly a story that will come up at a later date).

Liv admits to Ravi that Lowell was murdered, but Ravi pushes Liv to sign off on this as a suicide, because it’s best to keep the zombie secret covered. He’s also worried that if it’s classified as a murder then the body will go through many hands and they don’t know if his body will cause the infection to spread even further. Eventually she signs off on the suicide.

Ravi tries to talk Major off a ledge without revealing the zombie crisis, but it’s not really working. Major knows what he saw and he’s not backing down from it. Clive looks into the Candyman shooting and sees him at the gym  working out… it confuses Major even more and Clive tells him to get some help for these delusions before he gets himself committed. When Ravi learns that Major is going to commit himself to an institute he tries to talk him out of it…. will Ravi have to tell Major the truth?

Ravi goes to Liv and tells her that Major needs to know the truth because he’s being chased by zombies and that he’s checking himself into a hospital, but Liv thinks that checking himself into the hospital will make him safe. After getting drunk, Liv talks to Major about his decision and they have a nice moment together. It’s the first nice moment of the season where we actually see a little bit of chemistry between these two.

Seeing Major go to therapy was sad, but when he meets another patient that confirms that what Major saw was zombies and that he saw them too, Major starts to wonder if he’s really crazy. When Major eventually finds out the truth about the zombies and that Liv and Ravi lied to him (and let him go to therapy), how bad is that situation going to be? Episode grade: B
