ABC Upfronts: ‘Agent Carter,’ ‘Secrets & Lies,’ and ‘Galavant’ season 2 updates

There was information aplenty at the ABC upfront presentation on Tuesday, and it really does not matter too much just what show specifically you are talking about.

First and foremost, let’s talk schedule moves. The network is once again looking to emphasize the split-season format, which means that “Nashville,” “Once Upon a Time,” and other shows are going to occupy some space when they are off the air. For example, season 2 of “Secrets & Lies” (which is going to feature only Juliette Lewis despite there being potential for many other cast members to return) will come on the air in the place on “Nashville,” “Galavant” will continue to spell “Once Upon a Time,” and “Agent Carter” will spell Marvel’s “Agents of SHIELD.” For the latter series, it is important to note that the setting is shifting to Peggy’s next mission in the Los Angeles area.

As for some other shows, new drama “Wicked City” will air during the hiatus for “Quantico”, while “The Family” starring Joan Allen will air after “Of Kings and Prophets” on Sunday nights. In the world of Shonda Rhimes, “The Catch” will be replacing “How to Get Away with Murder” on Thursday nights once it comes to a close. Therefore, that night is going to be all Shonda, all the time in the new season.

We’ll have some further updates, including precise premiere dates, for at least some upcoming ABC shows a little bit later in the summer.
