‘Ink Master’ season 6: Masters vs Apprentices spotlight: Matt O’Baugh vs Katie McGowan
Matt O’Baugh and Katie McGowan are one of the most interesting Masters and Apprentices on this season of “Ink Master” and for one simple reason: These two want to bring each other to the end and plan on going into this competition as a team. With a environment that is as high stress as “Ink Master” is, having a friend there to help you out is a huge benefit and we’ve seen a few small alliances working together on this show in the past and it definitely helped them get further in the game.
Eventually Matt and Katie will have to face off against each other, whether it’s early in the game or standing on that stage together during the finale, so let’s jump in and see what these two are all about.
The Master: Matt O’Baugh
Tattooing: He has been tattooing for 14 years and is an owner at Black Cobra Tattoos in Sherwood, AR. He doesn’t have anything that is his specialty and feels that he’s a well rounded artist, which is helpful in this competition.

The Apprentice: Katie McGowan
Tattooing: She has been tattooing for 5 years and is an artist at Black Cobra Tattoo in Sherwood, AR. She loves doing traditional style and black and grey tattoos.

Matt vs Katie: These two work together every day and seem to have a great friendship, which will help them both greatly in the competition. Matt sees Katie as a threat in the game and Katie has a mutual respect for him. This is the first apprentice/master duo that is coming into this with the mentality that they are a team that and that they will take out the other artists together until it is just the two of them standing at the end. We are worried for Katie since she is one of the more inexperienced tattooers in the competition and the judges are usually hard on inexperienced tattooers. She looks like she has a lot of potential to be great, but we just aren’t sure if she’s a master yet. We hope that she surprises us this season and we are rooting for her to go far, but we think that Matt is going to have the edge on her.
