‘Chicago Fire’ season 3, episode 22 review: Casey, Severide have a rare clash

Chicago Fire -Was Tuesday night’s new episode of “Chicago Fire” a true clash of the titans? We don’t want to get too dramatic with it at the moment, but it was definitely a showdown in some ways between two guys who are the anchors of the show the majority of the time in Casey and Severide.

What we saw from Kelly in this episode was mostly a case of him wanting to see the good within his old friend Rice, and wanted to believe some of his stories. Eventually, he did sort of change his stance and started to ask some questions, and in turn this led to one of the more heated confrontations between Jesse Spencer and Taylor Kinney’s characters that we’ve seen. Casey didn’t like how Severide handled Otis, even if he did start to eventually come around to some of what he was saying.

This situation was probably made worse for Casey simply due to stress, as dealing with Jack Nesbitt has taken its toll on him. This is what happens when you find yourself wrapped up with someone who is actually involved in the world of human trafficking, and you do not quite know just what sort of mess you’ve gotten yourself into. We figure that Casey will in time find his way to handle this, and it should be a good story for the finale. Nice use of “Chicago PD” cameos here, as well.

We’re not going to say that the episode is going to be the most memorable one ever, largely because Casey dealing with Nesbitt is not particularly our favorite storyline that we’ve been dealt, and we also do want to see even more Boden than what we had this time around. Maybe the show is saving some of that good stuff for the finale. Still, this was a solid hour, and there is a whole lot in here for some longtime fans, especially if you’ve wanted to see Severide and Casey finally speak their mind. Grade: B.
